When the owners of Milestone decided to sell the Maypole brewing equipment, it was bought by Martyn Langdale, owner of the highly acclaimed CAMRA award winning pub 'The Eight Jolly Brewers' at Gainsborough, Lincs.

Knowing that Martyn required a brewer and wanting to be his own boss, Rob approached him with the view of going into partnership - Rob would brew the beer and Martyn would sell it through the Brewers and other local pubs. An agreement was reached and on 1st March 2005 brewing re-commenced at Maypole Brewery Ltd.

 

The first brew was designed specifically to Martyn’s requirements for a session bitter for The Eight Jolly Brewers’ and so Mayfly Bitter was created. This has proved very popular with the regulars and is now permanently available at The 'Brewers. Rob has created several other new beers and Maypole now has a range of four regular and five occasional brews. November 2005 saw the installation of a fourth fermenting vessel which will take production up from 22 firkins to 32 firkins a week and enable Maypole beers to be more widely available.
